Few things can add sophistication to alcoholic beverages like glassware and even fewer are able to do the same to beer, but beer glassware allows you to do just that. There are several different kinds of beer glassware that are not only acceptable but somewhat elegant. The first in the list of glassware that can add elegance to the simplistic alcoholic beverage that is beer is the flute glass. This simple long necked glass lends it’s elegance to any alcoholic beverage that it may contain including beer. Next on our list of elegant glassware for the beverage made of hopps is the glass goblet. This glass goblet is the kind of cup that would have been used to take care of a king. Next is the glass mug. This simple and classic design doesn’t add the elegance that the others do but is a simple classic and as such cannot be beat.

The next contender in our list of glassware for beer is the pilsner or pokal. Tall slender and tapered this glassware came from our good friends in Europe and adds it’s own European elegance to the any beer that may be contained within it. Next on our list is even less elegent but no less classic than the mug. That my friends is the pint. Simple and to the point the pint holds a place not only the hearts of American’s but in the hearts of people all around the world. Next on our list of glassware for beer is typically reserved for various wines, but can always be used for the beverage of hopps. This wide bowled short stemmed glass of which I speak is the snifter. The snifter has a wide bowl and a short stem. The next on the list of glassware for beer is the cylinder. Just as much of a classic as a the pint and the mug the cylinder typically holds it’s place in the finest bars. The next is the tulip glass which has an odd shape to it and is typically reserved for alcoholic beverages including beer. Last but not least in our list of glassware for our favorite simplistic adult beverage is the weizen glass. This glass is typically reserved for wheat beer but can always be used for every other kind of beer. The right kind of glassware can make any party seem a bit more elegant than it would originally appear.

Much like the right fashion accessories can create the right look for a woman, beer glassware can create the right look for a party. Whether you’re trying to make Monday night football look a little more important or if you’re setting up your very own superbowl party glassware for beer can make everything seem a whole lot more elegant than it actually is. Glass ware for beer is the perfect compliment to our favorite adult alcoholic beverage and should be used accordingly. Instead of drinking that beer out of a can present it well with glass ware for beer and make a much more profound impression than you could with a simple can of miller light, Budweiser, or your favorite beer .

As with beer, the beer glassware too has its own characteristics and can change the taste of the beer. If you do not drink beer in the correct glass you may not fully enjoy the full taste of the beer. The glass helps the beer release its proper aroma, create its head and define its clarity or cloudiness.

Believe it or not, the shape of the beer glassware determines the head of the beer in the glass. One can argue what difference does a head make to the beer? Well, it makes a lot of difference. The head of the beer prevents all the volatile elements of the beer from escaping the glass. These volatiles elements include products like hop oils, fermentation byproducts that determine the alcohol content etc. So if the glass promotes a good head, your beer will have more flavors and will prove to be more satisfying experience.

You would be surprised to know that in Europe, many breweries also produce their own glassware to go with the different types of beers they produce. And it is the same of bars that specialize in serving beers that they too will stock the different varieties of glasses to go with the beer they serve.

So what glass to use when drinking different beers. It’s usually good to leave that to the bar tender but here is a bit of a guide to get you through should you wish to impress your buddies at the bar.

If you are drinking wild ale, Czech or German Pilsener, strong or Vienna lager or bock, your choice of glass should be the champagne flute. Yes, the champagne flute does bring out the best in these kinds of beers.

If you are drinking American Ale, porter or stout, you must use the mug. The mug is also used for the most beers around the world. So if you are into porter, dopplebock, English Ale, Dry Stout, Scottish Ale, Vienna Lager or smoked beer, then the Mug should be your choice of glassware.

Another very commonly used beer glassware is the Pilsner that is used for adjunct lagers, malt liquor, steam beer, happoshu, rice lagers, light lagers and low alcohol beers.

The Pint Glass or Becker as it is also commonly known, is the most commonly glass in the world. It comes in two sizes the 16 ounce glass and 20 ounce glass. So if you drink any type of malt liquor, ale, barley wine, stout, porter, weissbier, English bitter, strong bitter, herbed or spiced beer or for that matter any other beer, you cannot go wrong with the pint glass.

There are other glasses to the likes of snifter, stange, tulip, weizen glass and over sized wine glass that are used to serve beer but you really have to know the type of beer and its characteristics before going out and making a fool of yourself.

Hopefully this would have given you a bit a guide to picking the right glass for the right beer!
